Beth A. Deragon counsels employers on a variety of employment matters from hiring, discipline, termination, anti-discrimination, harassment, wage and hour compliance, employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, leaves of absence, workplace privacy, non-competition agreements, NH DOL audits, unemployment compensation claims, reductions-in-force, and separation agreements to immigration matters.
Beth defends employers in employment litigation and appears before the NH Commission for Human Rights, NH Department of Labor, NH Employment Security, NH Superior Courts, US District Court and US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Beth's practice also includes representation of professionals before the NH Board of Medicine and NH Board of Mental Health Practice.
An active member of the NH Bar Association, she is chair of the Gender Equality Committee and vice chair of the Labor and Employment Law section. She is also a member of the Daniel Webster-Batchelder American Inns of Court, SHRM – Society for Human Resource Management, Human Resources Association - Greater Concord, and DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar. She is a co-author of the NH chapter of the ABA's Employment at Will: A State-by-state Survey (BNA Books 2011), and writes the NH Employment Law Blog for Business.
Beth speaks fluent Russian and is a member of the NH/Vologda Russia Committee, Russian American Rule of Law Consortium (RAROLC) that sponsors exchanges between the Russian and American legal communities.
Before joining the firm, Beth represented employees in the Concord NH firm of Upton & Hatfield, LLP. Beth is a graduate of Franklin Pierce Law Center. She received her master of arts degree with honors from the University of Birmingham, UK and her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire.
