Attorney Cairns Writes on Need for Civil Procedure Reform

CONCORD, NH — R. Matthew Cairns, a products and commercial liability defense attorney at Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, and president-elect of DRI — The Voice of the Defense Bar, was recently published in New Jersey Law Journal on the need for civil procedure reform. Attorney Cairns writes that “problems in pleading standards and discovery manipulation have become systemic [and] have turned our civil justice system into something litigants seek to avoid, rather than embrace. Two remedial steps are necessary.” The commentary proposes reforms that “would light the way to a more efficient, economic and just civil litigation system.”

Attorney Cairns represents the interests of individuals, insurers, manufacturers, transportation and other companies in diverse commercial, complex and traditional litigation matters in all state and federal courts and state agencies. He serves as general counsel to several closely held businesses in New Hampshire and is also experienced in general corporate and municipal representation, and risk management training. He has been named a "Super Lawyer" for products liability defense for the last three years.

Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell is a multidisciplinary law firm located in Concord, New Hampshire.
