GCG Attorneys Lead Top Ten Business Lessons for Filmmakers at New Hampshire Film Festival

CONCORD, NH — Business and entertainment attorneys Jon Garon and Denis Maloney will be among the featured panelists at the New Hampshire Film Festival taking place October 15th - 18th in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Garon and Maloney will participate in a panel discussion for independent filmmakers titled “The Top Ten Legal and Business Choices for Independent Filmmakers,” presented by the New Hampshire Film and Television Office. This panel will identify and highlight the most important lessons for an independent filmmaker, including such topics as entity structure, financing, fundraising, rights agreements, cast, insurance, distribution, music, and others. The panelists will share their “must list” for producing the successful independent film.

Attorney Garon is a nationally recognized authority on intellectual property, particularly copyright law, entertainment law, and media law. He regularly provides financing, production and distribution counseling for independent filmmakers, musicians, artists and entrepreneurs. He also assists businesses with technology, privacy and security compliance, intellectual property protection, licensing arrangements, employment agreements, strategic business development, and general corporate matters. Garon has written numerous books and articles, including The Independent Filmmaker's Law and Business Guide to Financing, Shooting, and Distributing Independent and Digital Films (A Cappella Books, 2nd Ed. 2009).

Attorney Maloney represents clients with complex corporate, securities and banking matters. His practice includes private equity placements and related federal and state securities filings and disclosure obligations, regulatory and compliance matters, and corporate governance and shareholder relations. He has experience counseling and representing clients in merger and acquisition and strategic alliances, including providing strategic advice regarding interrelated regulatory and compliance regimes.
