Lisa Shapiro Appointed to NH Retirement System Board of Trustees

CONCORD, NH — Dr. Lisa Shapiro of Canterbury has been appointed chair of the New Hampshire Retirement System Board of Trustees. Shapiro was confirmed by the Governor and Executive Council on January 30th.

Dr. Shapiro is chief economist for Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, P.C. in Concord, New Hampshire, and provides strategic economic consulting services to a variety of public and private sector clients. She is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston’s New England Public Policy Center Advisory Board, led the Economic Perspectives Technical Work Group of the New Hampshire Comparative Risk Project, and has authored studies, counseled clients, and testified on the economic and fiscal impacts of different tax, energy, open space, health care, and housing policies. Dr. Shapiro holds a Ph.D. in economics from The Johns Hopkins University.

The New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS) oversees $6 billion in investments and provides benefits to its eligible members and their beneficiaries upon retirement, disability or death. NHRS has approximately 53,000 active members including firefighters, police officers, teachers, and state and local government employees. Approximately 20,000 individuals currently receive a monthly benefit from the System.
