Shapiro Reappointed To Chair NH Retirement System Board of Trustees

CONCORD, NH – Dr. Lisa K. Shapiro, of Canterbury, has been reappointed chair of the New Hampshire Retirement System Board of Trustees. Shapiro was confirmed by the Governor and Executive Council to a second term ending July 13, 2011.

Dr. Shapiro is chief economist for Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell. She analyzes economic and industry trends, and provides strategic advice to businesses and institutions. For more than 15 years, Dr. Shapiro has worked on complex economic and financial projects in public and private settings. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Johns Hopkins University.

The NHRS oversees about $5 billion in assets and provides more than $400 million in annual benefit payments to its eligible members and their beneficiaries upon retirement, disability or death. The more than 50,000 members of NHRS include firefighters, police officers, teachers, and other state and local government employees throughout New Hampshire. More than 20,000 retirees receive annual pension benefits from the system.
