Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell’s Environmental Law practice represents a broad range of clients in environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and appeals processes. We represent clients before state and local environmental agencies and boards and in state and federal courts. Our environmental attorneys advise clients on matters related to New Hampshire wetlands, shoreland protection, land use planning, water, air, and hazardous waste permitting and compliance. We also work with energy clients on the siting and operation of facilities, transmission lines, and pipelines.

Our Environmental Law practice area professionals have strong working relationships with state and local regulators, agency staff, and board members. Through the firm’s Government Relations/Lobbying practice, members of our Environmental Law practice also work closely with legislators and have an opportunity to participate in the design of legislation affecting environmental laws.

Experience
  • Represent energy facilities before the New Hampshire Energy Facility Siting and Evaluation Committee and component agencies.
  1. Represent clients in environmental permitting and appeal processes before the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, the New Hampshire Department of Justice and state and federal courts.
  2. Counsel clients on state and federal compliance with environmental laws, including shoreland developments, wetlands, docking rights, land use planning, terrain alteration, water treatment, and the reporting and cleanup of hazardous waste and oil spills.
  3. Defend clients in environmental enforcement actions.
  4. Represent clients’ interests in legislative and regulatory activities affecting environmental issues. This includes development of laws regarding air pollution trading programs, water quality issues, shoreland protection, land use planning, and environmental regulation of electric power facilities, stationery manufacturing facilities and aggregate production.
